Green Schools Walk for Water

On Thursday April 6th we took part in the Green Schools Walk for Water. This is part of our work towards our Green Flag for Water.
We watched a video which showed how women and girls in Ethiopia have to hike up hills twice a day to collect water. This water is not even clean, it is contaminated. Here in Ireland we take our water for granted. In some countries they are not so lucky.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

We celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge from March 13-16. There were lots of activities as Gaeilge happening around the school. We sang Amhrán na bhFiann every morning at assembly. We practiced Frasaí an Lae every day in class. We had a Tráth na gCeist on Tuesday in the hall. Our school band performed for the school on Wednesday. On Thursday we had a concert, and a Céilí Mór. Caragh sang Óró Sé do Bheatha Bhaile.

World Book Week

We celebrated World Book Week in St Clare's last week. There were lots of activities going on all around the school. We read Revolting Rhymes in class. We went to Eason's with our World Book Day tokens, and got a free book. We did paired reading with 1st class Room 5. We took part in a Monster Book Swop on Friday, where we all went to the hall and got to choose a book to take home. We also designed our book marks. We had a great week, and read a lot!!!

Green Schools Water Poster Competition

A Green Schools Water Poster competition was held throughout the school. The theme of the poster was Global Goal 6- Clean Water and Sanitation. All the classes entered, and the winning entries were chosen to go through to the All-Ireland poster competition. Congratulations to two of our pupils, Rebecca and Corina, who were winners in this competition. Well done girls!!

Robin Hood

On Wednesday 15th February we all went to the hall to see the show Robin Hood, performed by M&M Theatre Company. It was fantastic!! The music was brilliant and it was very funny.

10 at 10

On Friday 10th February at 10am, we all took part in the Operation Transformation 10 at 10 activity programme. Our class did an athletics activity, full of all different kinds of movements and drills. All the classes went out to the yard to take part. It was great fun.
