Athletics trials
On Thursday 23rd we held our class athletic trials. This was to pick our top 3 or 4 athletes, to go forward for the trials for the school relay teams. We held a heat, and a final, and finally Jemima, Jessica, Chantel and Alexandra were selected to go through to the school trials. Well done girls. Also, congratulations to all the girls in the class who tried out with such enthusiasm and energy, and ran so well. These girls, although they may not have made it through, displayed a great sporting attitude, which is so important. Well done everyone!

Geography Projects
During the second term we worked on a Geography project. We chose a country we were interested in, and we had 6 weeks to do a project on it. We did our project in a scrapbook. We researched it ourselves. We gave a presentation in class. Ms Doyle interviewed us about it. This is our first time to do a project. We all learned lots!

Solar Eclipse
On Friday 20th March there was a solar eclipse visible in the sky over Ireland. It happened in the morning, so we were able to go outside and see it. You cannot look directly at the sun or at an eclipse, so we made pinholes in pieces of card, and we had a sheet of paper. You stand with your back to the sun, and hold up the pinhole card and the sheet behind it. The idea is that the sun shines through the pinhole, and projects the image of the eclipse onto the sheet of paper behind, so that you can see the image safely. Unfortunately, it was very cloudy at the time, so it did not work. However, it did get very dark, as if it was about to pour rain, and it became much colder. When we turned out the lights in our prefab, we were amazed at how dark it was.
