Sportathon

We took part in Sportathon on June 11th. It was brilliant. We participated in circuit training, yoga, dance, orienteering, skipping, athletics, co-operative games, races, ball skills and ice-cream eating! We had a fantastic day. We raised money for the school through sponsorship. This money will go to buy new sports equipment for us to use. Thank you to everyone who sponsored us. Congratulations to Brittany and Estere, who won prizes in the draw.

School Tour to Explorium

Yesterday we went on our school tour to Explorium National Science & Sports Centre, in Sandyford in Dublin. It was fantastic! We really enjoyed all the interactive science exhibits, especially the gravity room, the lightning show, the bed of nails and the speed track. We could try everything out, it was brilliant. After lunch we went on the climbing walls. They were so high, we felt like superheroes climbing up and absailing back down again. We had a fabulous day.

Ludo Board Party

On Friday we had our Ludo Board Party. We earned this party by filling all the spaces on our Ludo Board, which rewards good behaviour in the lines, in the yard and in the classroom. For the party, we wore our own clothes, had treats, and played board games. Thanks to Fiona, Ciara, Ketija, Sarah, Sophie and Anzelika who brought in their board games to share with the class. We had a great party.

Projects

We have been working very hard on our Geography Projects. We chose a country that we were interested in, and researched it under the following headings: History, Geography, Capital City, Food, Sports, Weather & Climate, Famous People, Language and Fun Facts. The countries chosen include Philippines, Spain, Turkey, Serbia, France, Korea, Egypt, Brazil, Greece, India, Russia, Latvia, China, Japan and Thailand. We worked on our projects for 3 weeks, and gave an oral presentation to the class when we were finished. We learned lots about our chosen country, and about everybody else's too. We are already looking forward to our next project.

Daffodils

Spring is here! What better way to celebrate the arrival of Spring, and the rise in temperatures, than to draw daffodils? Here are our drawings.

World Book Day

On March 7th, World Book Day, we visited Eason's bookshop with our World Book Day tokens. We received a free book, and a treat! On Saturday, the author Colm McElwain will be in Eason's from 1-2.30pm, signing copies of his book James Clyde and the Tomb of Salvation. Colm visited us in St Clare's recently, and told us all about being an author, and all about his new book. The author Dave Rudden also visited us recently, to talk about his books Knights of the Borrowed Dark, The Forever Court, and The Endless King.

Puffins on Skellig Michael

Skellig Michael is one of two Skellig islands off the coast of Kerry. 70,000 puffins and gannets live on Skellig Michael. The ruins of an ancient monastery are there, and part of the movie Star Wars was filmed there. We drew pictures of puffins using chalk pastels.
