Art Exhibition- Anamnesis

We went to the town hall to see Marilyn Gaffney's art exhibition, entitled Anamnesis. Marilyn was the artist who worked with us on our Arts project, and it was brilliant to go see her works. She gave us our own guided tour of her artwork, and told us all about how she created her art. We got to ask lots of questions. Thank you Marilyn!

1916 Centenary Celebrations

We celebrated the centenary of the 1916 Rising. The whole school went to the hall, and 4th and 6th class led the celebrations. Our class sang the song 'Grace', which is a beautiful song about Joseph Plunkett, one of the leaders of the Easter Rising, and Grace Gifford, his fiancé. They were engaged, but he was taken prisoner after the Easter Rising. Grace visited him in Kilmainham Jail, they were married there, and spent 15 minutes together before she had to leave. Joseph was executed later that day. We also played the tune on our tin whistles.
After the 6th class Drama, we all sang Amhrán na bhFiann, and went outside to raise the flag. It was a great celebration.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge was from March 7th - 11th. There were lots of activities as gaeilge in St Clare's. We did our 4th class Irish Assembly on the Monday, where we recited our poem Mo Bhreithlá, and sang our Irish song Trup Trup a Chapaillín. We were go hiontach.
On Friday we had our big Trá na gCeist, a big quiz in Irish for the senior classes. We were all mixed up on different teams, and two girls from our class, Sorcha and Sarah S, were on the winning team! Comhghairdeas cailíní.

Waiting to perform our poem and song
Finally, our Gaelgóirí na Seachtaine were chosen. These were the two pupils who made the most effort to speak Irish all  week. Our winners were Kayleigh and Tanya. Comghairdeas cailíní.
